2010.02.09 Mark to The Public: In keeping with my role as popular Chicago-based Microsoft SharePoint consultant, I’ve been asked to present at the upcoming March CSUG (Chicago SharePoint Users Group). My topic will be “Performance Optmization & Tuning Must-Haves to Keep Your Maxed-Out SP2007 Running Until SP2010″. This 1 hour presentation will cover key basic optimization techniques across the entire data-flow-chain, from browser to network to web server to database server. A checklist will be presented as a takeaway for attendees, and will cover the following:
- Browser Optimization – removing add-ons and increasing server connections;
- Network Optimization – popular types of caching & compression everyone should be exploring
- Web Server Optmization – 4 types of caching (maybe more) plus IIS (HTTP) compression techniques plus config tweaks
- Database Server Optimization – Splitting databases onto multiple drives for improved performance plus config tweaks
- Quantitative Reports of what you can expect from each type of optimization/tuning
Wow – better stop there, or it all won’t fit into 1 hour…
See you at Microsoft’s Regional Offices in Downers Grove, IL
Cheers,
-Mark
